Ilker Yardımcı was born in Turkey in 1974 and graduated from the Department of Sculpture at the Dokuz Eylul University, Faculty of Fine Arts with the sculpture exhibition, which was displayed in the Izmir French Culture Center in 2004. In the same year, he continued his master’s degree on sculpture in the Institute of Fine Arts at his alma mater. Yardimci made installations and sculptures using metal with a mixed technique. In 2007, he completed his master’s degree with both MA thesis based on “Narration Possibility with the Metal Mediums in Contemporary Sculpture” and his sculpture exhibition in the Italian Culture Center. Yardimci finished doctoral degree with the thesis “Confusion of Prism-A Public Space Sculpture Application in Beijing Olympic Park”.
The artist’s works have featured the question of metal materials in sculpture as a medium and the metal sculpture entitled “The Confusion of the Prism” was selected among 26 other international project to be exhibited in the scope of the Beijing Urban Sculpture Contest as part of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Aiming to create a communicative perception of sculpture using the interactions and overlap between basic forms, without words through sensation, İlker Yardımcı creates a dynamic category within the static universe of sculpture as a form, through association and mental acceleration. The artist’s works works feature in a number of publicand private collections. having participated in many exhibitions, fairs and bienales, most recently the artist received the second place prize for his sculpture entitled “Lyrical Message” at the International EXPO Sculpture Park Contest Qingdao, China. His work “Oblivion” was awarded at the International Sculpture Bienale in Chaco Argentina.
Ilker Yardımcı is the Sculpture Department Head at the Faculty of Art Design and Architecture at Duzce University and teaches as an Associated Proffessor.
